Special Educational Support (SPS)
At Erhvervsakademi SydVest, we recognize that all students have different needs and circumstances when it comes to completing their education. If you have a disability or a documented need for special support, you may be eligible for Special Educational Support (SPS).
What is SPS?
SPS is a support program designed to help students adapt their study environment and learning experience, ensuring they have the best possible opportunities to complete their education. This support can range from assistive tools and technology to personal guidance and mentoring.
What kind of support is available?
Depending on your needs, SPS can provide various types of support, including:
- Assistive technology (e.g., screen readers, speech recognition software)
- Comfort equipment (e.g., ergonomic chairs, adjustable desks)
- Reading and writing assistance (external study support)
- Interpretation services (e.g., sign language interpretation)
- Flexible exam formats and deadlines
- Personal support (e.g., study mentors, academic coaching)
How to apply for SPS
If you believe you need Special Educational Support (SPS), follow these steps:
- Contact the SPS Coordinator at the institution for guidance on how to apply.
- For study support or mentorship: Study Guidance Office – studievejledning-vest@easv.dk or studievejledning-syd@easv.dk.
- For practical support (e.g., ergonomic furniture, dyslexia software): SU Guidance Office – su@easv.dk.
- Submit documentation proving your disability or support needs. This may include medical certificates, dyslexia assessments, diagnostic reports, or other relevant documents. The SPS Coordinator will assist you in determining what is required.
- Develop an individual support plan together with the SPS Coordinator (either a study advisor or SU advisor) to identify the type of support you need.
- Evaluation and approval – Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed externally, and you will receive confirmation of the approved support.
- Follow-up – If you need additional support later on, you are always welcome to reach out again.
Why apply for SPS?
SPS ensures equal opportunities for all students. Our goal is to provide the necessary support so you can focus on your studies and succeed in your education.
